The Deputy President of the Senate, Prof Ike Ekweremadu has sent important message to the Nigerian youths.
He gave the message in Enugu, the Enugu State capital while addressing
the 7th Enugu State Annual Youth Summit.
He urged the youths to come out en masse to take their rightful position in governance and national development.
He also urged them to remain focused and never lose self-confidence as they journey through life adding that where he succeeded in life, they could also succeed.
He called attention to constitution amendment bill which reduced the age qualification to enable the youths contest elective positions in the country.
Citing what he went through in life which dates back to the civil war expressly told the youths that they could succeed and never allow any huddle in life to discourage them.
His words: “if I could succeed, you too can succeed”.

According to him, “The Nigerian youth have demonstrated their industry, intellect, creativity, resilience, energy, ingenuity, and entrepreneurial prowess and deserve the chance to assume leadership positions at all levels of governance.
“It is for the above reasons that the National Assembly agreed that the youth deserved a better deal and bigger role in the governance and development of the country.
“We altered Sections 65, 106, 131, and 177 of the Constitution to reduce the age qualification for the office of the President, House of Representatives, and State Assembly”.
“If you are old enough to vote, it is only natural that you should be old enough to be voted for”, he added.
